Cake sales pick up pace
The sale of special cakes at small and large bakeries has gained momentum ahead of Christmas across the city as Christian families are ready to celebrate their annual religious ritual on Wednesday.
This time, owners of large bakeries have also given a political touch to Christmas cakes. Bakeries have been decorated with cakes of all types of flavours. This year, the prices of Christmas cakes have also been increased by 60 to 100% compared to last year while special cakes are being prepared on order in a short time.
Christmas cake-cutting ceremonies are also in full swing in all government and non-government offices. This year, ice cream cakes, pineapple cakes, and sugar-free cakes have also been prepared.
This year, the lowest-priced Christmas cakes are being sold for Rs700, good quality cakes for Rs1,500, the best flavour cakes for Rs2,200 to Rs2,500, and fruit cake-style special cakes are being sold for Rs1,000. Similarly, dry fruits such as cashews, almonds, walnuts, and pistachio mix special cakes are available for Rs3,000.
