Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez addresses pregnancy rumors

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez addresses pregnancy rumors, responds to speculation fueled by Laura Loomer.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) of New York has publicly denied rumors of her being pregnant, calling the speculation unfounded. In a video shared on her Instagram Story, the congresswoman responded to a follower's question about her "glowing" appearance. “Everyone keeps asking me if I'm pregnant,” she said, clarifying, “I'm not pregnant, guys.” She added humorously, “I had a lot of food at Thanksgiving, OK? It happens.”

While AOC addressed the rumors with humor, far-right political activist Laura Loomer played a significant role in fueling the speculation. Before the 2024 election, Loomer claimed AOC was expecting and invited her to discuss it on her show, accusing the congresswoman of hiding a pregnancy. Even after AOC’s decisive victory over her Republican opponent, Loomer continued her comments online, tweeting, “The election is over. You can come out and finally admit you're pregnant.”

The progressive Democrat also revealed that a Republican congressman had questioned her about the rumors on the House floor last week. This adds to the scrutiny she has faced in her political career, particularly as a high-profile advocate for progressive policies.

Amid this public attention, AOC’s personal life remains relatively private. She is engaged to marketing expert Riley Roberts, whom she met while attending Boston University. Despite her high-profile career, Roberts keeps a low profile, occasionally appearing in her Instagram videos or accompanying her to notable events, such as the 2021 Met Gala, where she wore her now-iconic “Tax the Rich” dress.
