The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (RCTP) has issued a traffic plan for Christmas and Quaid-e-Azam Day celebrations.
According to a spokesperson for the department, during the midnight duty on December 24 and 25, and for anti-one-wheeling measures, 139 officers and personnel, including four deputy superintendent police (DSPs), have been deployed.
Moreover, 297 traffic police personnel (TPP) will perform duties during the daytime.
The team comprising 12 circle officers, 52 senior traffic wardens, 168 traffic wardens, and 65 traffic assistants, has been given specific instructions by Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer (RCTO) Benish Fatima. More than 50 personnel have been deployed on special duty at churches, parks, and other important places to keep the participants of the celebrations safe from traffic problems.
The deployed staff will perform their duties round-the-clock to maintain traffic flow, assist pedestrians, and deal with any emergency situation.
The police have appealed to the public to adhere to traffic rules, cooperate with traffic police, and follow their instructions.
Motorists are advised to plan their routes in advance and avoid parking within 100 metres of any venue and pedestrians are requested to use designated crosswalks and follow traffic signals for their safety.
The traffic plan will be implemented in letter-and-spirit on December 25.
