Jirga to resolve demarcation disputes
A jirga to resolve demarcation disputes in the Peshawar Division, particularly between the Matani and Mirgat Khel areas, has been scheduled for next week.
Peshawar Commissioner Riaz Mehsud stated that demarcation disputes will soon be resolved amicably and with the consent of all parties involved.
He emphasised that resolving these disputes would significantly help reduce tensions among various tribes.
Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud met with a delegation regarding the demarcation conflict between the residents of Matani and Mirgat Khel. Present at the meeting were MNAs Shandana Gulzar and Iqbal Afridi, MPA Abdul Anees Afridi, as well as deputy commissioners of Peshawar and Khyber districts.
The commissioner assured the delegation of personal efforts to resolve the issue. He mentioned that the other party involved in the dispute would also be invited to present their perspective.
Following this, a joint meeting of both parties will be held next week to find a lasting resolution to the conflict.
He directed the deputy commissioners of Peshawar and Khyber districts to meet with both sides and prepare preliminary recommendations. The delegation expressed satisfaction with the assurance provided and commended the personal efforts of Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud and the National and Provincial Assembly members. They also pledged their full cooperation in resolving the dispute.
Meanwhile, details of properties under the City Metropolitan have been requested.
The Mayor of Peshawar, Haji Zubair Ali, has demanded records of properties belonging to deceased owners, unidentified owners, and properties under illegal occupation by December 31, 2024.
At the request of the Capital Metropolitan Tenants' Association, Mayor Zubair Ali has notified those occupying shops of deceased or unidentified owners to submit their documentation.
