PESHAWAR:

A shooting incident stemming from an old enmity over a murder dispute resulted in the death of five people and injuries to three others in the Pishtakhara area of Peshawar. Among the deceased were two passersby and a guest. The parties involved are reportedly cousins.

Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police surrounded the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the suspects, who had fled the scene. According to the Pishtakhara Police Station, the incident occurred at approximately 12:30pm near the Canal Road Academy Bridge.

Halima Bibi, the widow of Haji Waheed and a resident of Academy Town, reported to the police that she, along with her sons Zulqarnain, Israr, Jawadul Haq, and Abdul Rehman, had gone to Bara Gate to offer prayers for the deceased.

Upon their return, when they reached the site of the incident, the suspects—Islamullah, Hidayatullah, Saboor, and Noor Elahi, residents of Safaid Dheri—opened fire on their vehicle.

Police revealed that the two parties had a long-standing enmity dating back to 1995, and several lives have been lost in this feud. Both groups are residents of the same area and have intermarried within the family.

The firing resulted in the deaths of Halima Bibi's son Zulqarnain, Ejaz, son of Amin; Israr, son of Yunus; Rajoli, son of Rehman Wali, resident of Dora; and Naseer, son of Ahmed Wali, resident of Chitral.

Those injured in the firing include Fakhriyar, son of Mosam Khan, resident of Safaid Dheri; Jawad-ul-Haq, son of Taslim-ul-Haq, resident of Hangu; and Aizaz, son of Parvez, resident of Safaid Dheri.

Police stated that the enmity between the parties began in 1995, and multiple individuals have been killed over the years. After the incident, an investigative team arrived at the scene and collected bullet casings and other crucial evidence. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination, and the injured were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

In further action, the police arrested one of the suspects, Saboor.
