Wedding day filicide rocks Multan
A man shot dead his son and severely injured his wife over a dispute over a trivial matter on the day of his two daughters' wedding.
The suspect fled from the spot after the incident and the area police were conducting raids for his arrest. According to police sources, Zafar Abbas, a resident of the Suraj Miani area, opened fire in rage in his home on his daughters' wedding day.
As a result of the shooting, his 30-year-old son Qamar Abbas died on the spot, while his wife, 55-year-old Shirin Zara, was severely injured.
The sources said the cause of the shooting was an argument between the wife and daughter-in-law of the suspect. Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the deceased to the Nishtar Hospital for autopsy, while the injured woman was given medical assistance on the spot.
On receiving information about the incident, a heavy contingent of police also reached the spot and initiated legal action.
The Saddar police registered a case and dispatched teams to arrest the suspect.
Woman's murder
The police have solved a case of the murder of a 28-year-old woman in the Qutubpur area, declaring that the victim had been killed by a hitman hired by her husband.
The police have arrested three suspects in the case, including the husband of the deceased. The woman had been shot dead on December 13.
The suspect had informed the police that she had been gunned down at around 10:30 pm by robbers when they were returning home after visiting relatives.
A case had been registered in the Qutubpur police station.
Police teams formed after the registration of the case traced and arrested the suspects.
It was revealed during initial investigation that the husband of the deceased had made a deal of Rs2.2 million to get her killed. An advance payment of Rs200,000 had been made, while the remaining amount was to be paid after the murder. One of the arrested suspects is a bank manager.
The investigation revealed that the husband of the victim wanted to get married again, which was why he got his wife murdered.
He had also made a similar attempt to murder his wife earlier.
Multan City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar presented the details of the incident during a news conference and promised to ensure justice for the victim's family.
The CPO also announced that the Muzaffarabad police had apprehended 15 members of five gangs involved in cases of robbery, theft and motorcycle snatching.
