James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman teaser has shattered records, garnering more than 250 million views in just 24 hours since its release. This achievement marks the biggest trailer launch in both DC and Warner Bros. history.
Gunn, who is helming the new Superman film, celebrated the milestone on social media, thanking fans for their support. “Krypto really did take us home: With over 250 million views and a million social posts, Superman is officially the most viewed and the most talked about trailer in the history of both DC and Warner Bros.,” Gunn wrote. “This is because of all of you: thank you! We’re incredibly grateful and, most of all, excited to share this movie with you in July. Happy Holidays!”
The trailer offered a first glimpse of David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel, as well as a sneak peek at the film’s ensemble cast, which includes Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and several other key characters such as Krypto the Superdog, Hawkgirl, and Green Lantern Guy Gardner.
The trailer’s success has far outpaced many other major studio tentpoles this year, with Joker: Folie à Deux (167 million views) and Inside Out 2 (157 million views) trailing behind. However, it still falls short of the all-time record set by Marvel’s Deadpool and Wolverine trailer, which achieved 365 million views.
Gunn's vision for Superman embraces the full range of the superhero’s mythology, including his relationships with other heroes, both allies and rivals. The film will explore the more grounded elements of Superman’s story, something that Gunn hopes will resonate with long-time fans of the character.
Superman is set to hit theatres on July 11, 2025, under Warner Bros.
