Young couple burnt in gas explosion

HYDERABAD:

A man and his wife 27-year-old Waqas and 26-year-old Anika, were severely injured in a powerful gas leak explosion at a house in Al-Shifa Colony of Hyderabad in the Friday morning.

They had left the gas valve open during supply cut. But, when the gas supply resumed the kitchen got filled with fumes.

Unknowing what disaster awaited them, they came in the kitchen to make the tea on a shivering cold morning. As soon as Anika lit the match there was a huge ball of fire that shook the whole neighbourhood.

A Rescue 1122 team rushed the severely burnt couple to Hyderabad Civil Hospital Burns Ward.

It is reported that the explosion was so intense that its sound was heard from a far distance. The explosion also caused one of the house's walls to collapse.
