The LHC Rawalpindi Bench on Friday issued a notice to the base commander of Murid Chakwal in a petition concerning the military trial of a civilian under the new constitutional amendment.
Colonel (Retd) Inamur Rahiem argued that Waqar Haider is a civilian and an employee in a low-scale position at the base.
In response to a petition filed by his mother, Rubina Kausar, the PAF Murid Base submitted in court that he is being tried under the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
The petition contended that, under the new constitutional amendment, no civilian can be tried in a military court.
