National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has given the PML-N led federal government and the oppositionthe PTIa deadline to evolve a consensus on the next chairperson for the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), parliament's accountability arm.
Addressing a question during the Speaker's Conference held in the federal capital on Friday, Sadiq said if no consensus is reached on the matter by the next week, a PAC meeting will be convened, and the chairperson will be elected on the spot. Sadiq reminded both sides that it is a parliamentary tradition for the PAC chairmanship to go to the opposition.
