Punjab drops student winter camps plan

RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab Chief Secretary has rejected a proposal to organise winter camps for students of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 during the winter vacations.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the District Education Authority (DEA) Attock had presented a proposal to organise winter camps for student coaching at a conference of educational officers. He emphasised that with annual exams approaching, permission should be granted to hold these camps to improve the education system.

The CS, however, strongly rejected a proposal, emphasising that winter holidays are essential for children to rest, refresh, and have fun. During this time, children can go for walks and engage in recreational activities, returning to school refreshed and ready to work hard after the holidays.

Stressing that children's holidays should not be disrupted, the chief secretary has strictly prohibited winter camps in government and private schools during the winter holidays.

"Educational officers are required to implement this ban strictly, and any school violating this order will face strict departmental action," the CS made it clear.
