New information from Liam Payne's preliminary autopsy report has provided insight into his final moments before his death. On October 16, 2024, the 31-year-old tragically passed away after allegedly falling from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

According to a report from the Mirror, the preliminary autopsy findings confirmed that Payne died due to "multiple traumas" resulting from a 40-foot fall, which caused "internal and external bleeding." Forensic experts stated, "the 25 injuries described in the autopsy are compatible with those caused by a fall from a height."

The report further noted that Payne had no "defensive type" wounds, and his injuries were described as "vital" and occurring simultaneously. According to the Argentine outlet *La Nacion*, investigators ruled out the involvement of a third party.

On the afternoon of October 16, hotel staff reportedly contacted emergency services after Payne was seen "acting erratically in the hotel foyer" and was escorted back to his room. CCTV footage from that day captured Payne appearing visibly intoxicated and causing disturbances before staff intervened.

Additional findings from the preliminary autopsy were supported by a November 7 report from the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office. A toxicology analysis revealed traces of alcohol, cocaine, and antidepressants in Payne's system.

Officials clarified that the incident was not deemed a suicide, as "in the state he was in, he did not know what he was doing and could not understand it." The report also concluded that Payne did not adopt a "reflexive posture to protect himself" during the fall. It was therefore determined that his death was the result of a substance-induced "psychotic episode," during which Payne was "semi- or totally unconscious."

After the investigation concluded, Payne's body was returned to the United Kingdom from Argentina. It arrived at London's Heathrow Airport on November 7, and his funeral took place on November 20 at St. Mary’s Church in Amersham.
