Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things, is reportedly a top contender to portray Jean Grey in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. According to Jeff Sneider, who shared the update on The Hot Mic podcast and his The InSneider newsletter, the 22-year-old actress may debut as the iconic X-Men character in Avengers: Doomsday, set to release in May 2026.

Sneider noted that casting is still in its early stages, and while the decision could change, he expressed confidence in his sources. This potential casting aligns with Marvel’s strategy of introducing a new generation of heroes as the studio builds its next major narrative arc. The X-Men movie is rumored to release shortly after Avengers: Secret Wars on November 5, 2027, signaling Marvel’s plans to integrate mutants into the MCU sooner rather than later.

Casting speculation also points to the Russo Brothers potentially being involved, given their successful history with casting Tom Holland as Spider-Man. If Sink lands the role, she will join a star-studded ensemble that includes Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, and Chris Evans as Nomad.

Jean Grey, a pivotal figure in the X-Men lore known for her psychic abilities and complex character arc, marks a significant addition to Marvel’s evolving storyline. Sink’s portrayal would add a fresh perspective to the role, contributing to the studio’s focus on younger talent.

Best known as Maxine Mayfield in Stranger Things, Sink has also appeared in The Whale and Fear Street. Her reported casting highlights her rising star power.
