‘Superman’ trailer reveals bloodied hero and iconic DC team-up

The first teaser trailer for James Gunn’s Superman has arrived, offering a fresh look at the DC Universe reboot. 

The teaser introduces David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, alongside a cast of DC favorites like Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), Green Lantern Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Krypto the Superdog. The film is set to release in 2025, marking the launch of Gunn’s vision for the DC Universe.

The trailer showcases Superman in a battered state, rescued by Krypto after crashing into Arctic ice. Gunn highlighted that this Superman “lives in a world with superheroes,” a departure from standalone portrayals of the character in previous adaptations. The film promises a rich, interconnected universe, featuring characters like Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) and Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan).

James Gunn described the film as embracing “all of the Superman mythology” while grounding it in reality. The teaser includes a reimagined electric guitar version of John Williams’ classic Superman theme, blending nostalgia with modernity. Gunn also emphasized that the movie focuses on Superman’s innate goodness, reflecting the core values of hope and kindness that define the character.

Actors shared their unique approaches to iconic roles. Corenswet likened Superman’s optimism to his own tendency to see the best in people, while Brosnahan’s Lois Lane embodies the relentless curiosity of a modern journalist. Hoult’s Lex Luthor combines intellectual ruthlessness with an understandable ideology.
