QUETTA:

Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif has expanded the laptop distribution quota for students enrolled in public sector universities across Balochistan, increasing it from 14% to 18%.

This decision was made upon the recommendation of Balochistan Governor Jafar Khan Mandokhail. Furthermore, the province's students have been granted 3,000 internships, a noteworthy step toward enhancing education and fostering employment opportunities.

The announcement was delivered by Rana Mashhood, the Prime Minister's Adviser on Youth Affairs, during the 20th convocation of the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences (BUITEMS).

The convocation, held on Thursday, was presided over by Governor Jafar Khan Mandokhail, who also serves as the university's chancellor. The ceremony recognised the accomplishments of 700 graduating students.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Mandokhail praised the prime minister and his adviser for their proactive measures.

"These initiatives reflect a strong commitment to the educational uplift of Balochistan's youth. Increasing the laptop quota and providing internships are practical steps toward bridging the gap between urban and rural educational opportunities."
