In Parachinar, all educational institutions, both public and private, have been closed due to the ongoing road blockages.
The closure of the roads has affected daily life, including the education sector. Educational institution heads have confirmed that schools will remain shut until the main highway is reopened and secured.
MNA Hamid Hussain pointed out the wide-ranging effects of the road blockages and unrest, stating that even overseas Pakistanis' vacation plans have been disrupted as their visas and tickets have been rendered invalid due to the turmoil.
Deputy Commissioner Ramzan Simab mentioned that a final decision on restoring peace is expected today at the Grand Jirga being held in Kohat.
This follows the tragic incident in late November, where 38 people lost their lives after armed individuals opened fire on passenger vehicles in the Ucht area of Kurram district.
Yesterday, the Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has approved the dispatch of medicines, relief supplies, and a mobile healthcare unit to Parachinar to support residents affected by ongoing crises.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the people of Parachinar are an integral part of the nation and should not be left alone during hardships.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz also shared the success of her recent visit to China, highlighting the country's achievements and the respect for authority and harmony among its people, which she hopes Punjab will emulate. She also expressed hope for continued development in Punjab inspired by China.
The meeting also addressed the situation in Kurram, where the Adviser to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister criticized the federal government's response to the escalating crisis.
He also pointed out the lack of promised air ambulance services for the area. Meanwhile, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government airlifted essential medicines worth Rs12.4 million to Kurram, with ongoing efforts to address the region's medical supply shortages.
Additionally, Faisal Abdul Sattar Edhi, chairman of the Edhi Foundation, reached Kurram with vital supplies after receiving approval from government officials.
