Soccer star Trinity Rodman shared deeply personal insights into her complicated relationship with her father, NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman, during an appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast. Despite her athletic success, including an NWSL championship and Olympic gold medal, Trinity credited her mother, Michelle Moyer, as her role model and support system, highlighting her father’s limited involvement in her upbringing.

Rodman described her childhood struggles, including periods of financial insecurity and her father’s controlling nature regarding money. She recalled living with her mother in a Ford Expedition while her father led a lifestyle she felt was unsuitable for parenting, with frequent parties and little consistent contact. These early experiences set the tone for an emotionally charged moment in 2021 during her rookie NWSL season when Dennis Rodman appeared unannounced at one of her games.

During the game, Trinity felt overwhelmed, breaking down in tears on the field. Although their post-game interaction was described as “wholesome,” she later expressed frustration, feeling her father had disrupted a special moment. Their relationship further deteriorated after this incident, with Trinity losing hope for reconciliation due to sporadic communication and unmet promises.

Now 22, Trinity continues to excel on and off the field, earning recognition on FIFA’s Best XI list and becoming a cornerstone of the Washington Spirit and the USWNT attack. However, she still grapples with her father’s struggles with alcoholism and inconsistent communication, describing each rare interaction as emotionally draining.

“He’s not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else,” Trinity said. Despite the challenges, she maintains limited contact, saying she answers his calls out of a sense of duty rather than for her own sake. Her resilience underscores her ability to thrive amid personal and emotional complexities.
