Coast Guards foil smuggling attempts, seize goods worth over $73m

In a significant crackdown over the past month, Pakistan Coast Guards have successfully intercepted large shipments of smuggled Iranian diesel and narcotics in various regions of Balochistan, thwarting attempts to illegally transport goods valued at over $73 million.

According to a spokesperson, the operations, based on intelligence, were conducted in the coastal areas of Gwadar, Pasni, and Othal in Balochistan. During these operations, a total of 823,452 litres of illicit Iranian diesel were seized, preventing its smuggling into the country.

Additionally, in separate actions, the Coast Guards intercepted 135 kilograms of methamphetamine (meth ice) and 652.5 kilograms of hashish, which were being trafficked both domestically and internationally.

The total value of the seized narcotics is estimated to be approximately $73.631 million in the global market as the legal proceedings have been initiated concerning the confiscated drugs and diesel.
