Alec Baldwin vows to reveal truth of fatal 'Rust' shooting: "Things are coming back my way to work"
Alec Baldwin has announced plans to reveal the untold truth behind the tragic Rust shooting that claimed the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October 2021. Speaking on David Duchovny’s Fail Better podcast on December 16, Baldwin declared, “The truth of what happened has never been told,” adding that there is “more to come.”
The incident occurred when Baldwin fired a prop gun containing a live round, injuring director Joel Souza and fatally wounding Hutchins. Although Baldwin has repeatedly denied pulling the trigger, the fallout placed him at the center of a highly publicized legal battle.
Initially charged with involuntary manslaughter, Baldwin saw his charges dropped in July 2024 after his legal team revealed concealed evidence by the prosecution and Santa Fe authorities. However, he was re-indicted by a grand jury in a subsequent investigation before the case’s eventual dismissal.
Baldwin criticized the media for what he described as biased reporting, claiming it focused on stories that damaged his reputation while overlooking those that might have supported his defense. He further accused detractors of seeking to ruin him, likening the experience to “being dead because you roam the earth and you’re invisible.”
Despite his hardships, Baldwin expressed optimism for the future. “I do believe that things are coming back my way to work,” he said, referencing recent communications that suggest a resurgence in his career.
Baldwin is determined to use upcoming legal filings to expose what he calls the full story of the Rust tragedy, promising, “It’s going to be undeniably a successful effort to raise and to expose what really happened.”
