A shooting and a related fiery car crash in Towson, a suburb north of Baltimore, left one person dead and nine others injured Tuesday night, according to police.

Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough reported that gunshots were heard throughout a neighborhood near the scene of the crash, which occurred outside a closed funeral home.

The car involved in the crash was found on its side, engulfed in flames. Police responded to reports of gunshots throughout the area and discovered damage to the funeral home’s facade.

The authorities have yet to release the names or conditions of the victims, but it is not clear whether all nine injured individuals were shot.

Police believe the shooting was targeted and isolated, with McCullough stating, “It appears that the individuals in this case somehow knew one another and that this incident was intentional and targeted.”

Investigators are continuing to gather details about the shooting, which is described as a “rolling type of gun situation” that led up to the crash site.

The identities of the victims have not been disclosed, and police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“We are working hard to gather all the facts and will provide more details as we have them,” McCullough added.

Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski expressed shock over the incident, noting, “This is an incident that is shocking, particularly for those of us in Baltimore County.

These types of incidents are unheard of here, and so it really shocks the conscience.” Olszewski also assured the public that law enforcement agencies would be provided with all the resources needed to solve the case.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
