Rapper Quando Rondo has accused local police of attempting to steal his jewelry during an incident on December 17. Sharing his allegations on Instagram Stories, Rondo claimed the officers not only tried to damage his jewelry but also attempted to take his watch. Accompanying his post was a photo of a chain on his lap, captioned, “Police hate so bad.” He provided no further details about the encounter or what led to the police interaction.
This accusation is the latest chapter in a series of challenges the rapper has faced. Currently, Rondo is serving a 33-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess and distribute marijuana. His plea deal with the Department of Justice in August reduced his potential five-year sentence.
Rondo’s struggles extend beyond his current sentence. The rapper was involved in a 2022 shooting that claimed the life of his cousin, Lul Pab. Authorities allege that fellow rapper Lil Durk orchestrated the attack as part of a murder-for-hire plot. While Rondo survived the shooting, the tragedy has become a focal point of ongoing legal proceedings. Durk, who has pleaded not guilty, maintains through his legal team that there is “no real evidence” tying him to the incident.
Reflecting on these challenges, Rondo used his recent Instagram post to address the violence within the rap industry. “We didn’t get into this industry just to stay trapped in this street life,” he wrote. “We’ve lost too much already.” His statement underscores a broader concern about artists being unable to break free from cycles of violence.
As the legal battles for Rondo and Durk continue, both remain at the center of a narrative highlighting personal struggles and broader issues within the rap industry.
