Farhan, Rehman win Pakistan Padel Open title

The Pakistan Padel Open 2024 concluded in spectacular fashion at Legends Arena, marking a new chapter in the country's sports history.

With over 180 participants across five categories, including elite players from Norway, the tournament became the largest and most prestigious padel event ever organized in Pakistan. The competition featured electrifying matches, dramatic moments, and unforgettable performances, solidifying Pakistan's growing presence in the international padel community.

In the marquee Category A (Men's) final, defending champion Farhan Mustafa teamed up with Abdur Rehman to secure a commanding 6-4, 6-4 victory over Norwegian duo Bilal Ahmed and Samir Almas. The Category B+ title was claimed by Ammar Shaikh and Shehroz Faheem, who defeated Ali Shahid and Azhar Katchi 6-3, 6-4. In Category B, Saad Noman and Hamza Nafees Yaqoob dominated with a 6-4, 6-1 win against Rayyan Younus and Shakir Sangani.

The Ladies' Category delivered a thrilling finale as Mehak Taherani and Saira Umar outlasted sisters Hasnat and Rania Hashwani in a gripping three-set battle, finishing 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. The Mixed Category saw Hamzah Bokhari and Hasnat Hashwani claim victory with a decisive 7-5, 6-1 win over Gul Muhammad Taherani and Mehak Taherani.

The event also highlighted the international participation of Norwegian Padel, whose four teams, led by manager Soliman Sarwar, brought an exciting global element to the competition. Players like Bilal Ahmed and Samir Almas earned accolades for their stellar performances, with Bilal and Samir finishing as runners-up in Category A.

The Pakistan Padel Open 2024 set new benchmarks for the sport, showcasing Pakistan's potential as a hub for padel excellence. The organizers, Legends Arena, were lauded for their commitment to developing world-class infrastructure and hosting premier events, which are instrumental in popularizing the sport across the nation.

The event's success was made possible by the support of sponsors, including Millac Foods (Title Sponsor), Combaxx Sports, Changan Motors, Deepal Pakistan, Bank Alfalah, Gatorade, and Shoop Noodles. Their contributions ensured a seamless and memorable tournament.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by the squash legend Jahangir Khan, Chairman of Total Sports. He, along with sponsor representatives, presented trophies and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up. Consolation rounds added further excitement, with Asma Zaid and Saira Ammad excelling in the ladies' consolation round, while Munib Iqbal and Shakir Balagamwala triumphed in Men's Category A.

Norwegian player Christopher Ulsrud praised the tournament's organization, stating, "The experience here has been incredible, and the hospitality and competition in Pakistan have been top-notch."
