Selena Gomez is officially engaged to music producer Benny Blanco, and her stunning marquise diamond engagement ring has become the center of attention.
The 32-year-old singer announced the news on December 11 via Instagram, sharing a heartwarming carousel featuring close-ups of the ring and candid moments from the romantic proposal.
The ring features a rare marquise-cut diamond set on a sparkling diamond eternity band. Ann Grimmett, VP of Merchandising at Jared Jewelers, estimates the center stone to weigh approximately 6 carats with an estimated value of $225,000. Grimmett emphasized the rarity of the design, noting, “Less than 5% of diamonds are marquise. The shape combines timeless elegance with the growing trend of elongated fancy cuts.”
Marquise diamonds have a storied history, originally commissioned in the 18th century by King Louis XV of France, who wanted a shape resembling the smile of his mistress, the Marquise de Pompadour. Since then, the marquise cut has symbolized sophistication, elegance, and romance, making it a fitting choice for Gomez.
Gomez and Blanco, who collaborated on the 2019 single I Can’t Get Enough, turned their professional relationship into romance in June 2023. The couple later confirmed their love on Instagram and made their red carpet debut at the 2024 Emmys.
Fans have speculated that Gomez manifested this diamond through her lyrics, particularly in her 2023 single Single Soon, produced by Blanco. As the singer shared, “Forever begins now,” her engagement continues to capture hearts worldwide.
