Marques Brownlee faces backlash after police footage reveals multiple traffic violations
Police bodycam footage has surfaced showing tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee, aka MKBHD being cited for multiple traffic violations, reigniting criticism following his November 2024 speeding controversy.
Brownlee, known for his popular reviews on tech, AI tools, and electric cars, has faced renewed scrutiny after this footage revealed a pattern of offenses.
The videos, uploaded by YouTube channel Transparency Bodycam on December 15, document three incidents. On June 30, 2023, Brownlee was pulled over in a Tesla for heavily tinted windows and driving without his license. He was ticketed after officers verified his identity.
On June 16, 2024, Brownlee was stopped for speeding 59 mph in a 25 mph zone. Although informed that he had two points on his license, the officer issued him a lesser citation for “unclear plates,” carrying a fine of up to $55.
The third incident occurred on August 11, 2024, when Brownlee was again cited for unclear plates at a gas station in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
This footage emerges just weeks after Brownlee apologized for including a now-deleted video clip showing him speeding at 96 mph in a 35 mph zone near a children’s area. Although he resumed content production, the latest revelations have sparked fresh backlash online, with commenters and influencers weighing in on his driving history.
The compilation video has amassed over 43,000 views, but Brownlee has yet to issue a statement addressing the newly surfaced footage.
