Karachi is currently experiencing a cold spell, with the temperature dipping to 8.9°C on Sunday night, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The temperature at Jinnah Terminal dropped to a low of 8.9°C, while other areas, including Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Shahrah-e-Faisal, recorded temperatures of 10.5°C and 11.5°C, respectively. Mauri Pur saw a temperature of 12.5°C, Express News reported.
The PMD reported that the weather in Karachi is cold and dry, with daytime temperatures expected to reach 27°C.
On the previous day, the maximum temperature also reached 27°C. Winds from the northeast are blowing at a speed of 7 km/h, and the city's humidity stands at 50%.
The cold weather is being further intensified by icy winds from Balochistan, causing the temperature to feel 2 to 4 degrees lower than the actual reading.
In addition to the cold weather, Karachi's air quality remains a concern. The Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded a level of 183, indicating unhealthy air conditions.
The PMD has advised residents to take precautions against the cold and air pollution while staying updated on weather forecasts.
Meanwhile, Lahore and other regions of Punjab remain under a prolonged dry spell, with no rain expected in the coming days, says the Meteorological Department.
The minimum temperature in Lahore dropped to 5°C, while the maximum temperature is forecast to reach 20°C.
