City Traffic Police has begun implementing a special traffic plan aimed at improving traffic flow in major commercial areas of the city including Raja Bazaar, Gowalmandi, Liaquat Road and adjacent areas.
According to a spokesperson for the police, the Traffic police introduced a special traffic plan for commercial area of the inner city a few days ago.
A control room was also set up.
Operations against encroachments and double parking that hinder the flow of traffic were also intensified as part of the plan so that the traffic coming to the city's major commercial centre did not face traffic jams. Despite the traffic being higher than usual, the traffic flow was not affected on Friday, he said.
Due to the markets being closed on Friday, there was more traffic pressure than usual in the commercial areas of the inner city on Thursday.
"Due to the deployment of additional personnel, and the continuous operation of lifter and anti-encroachment squads, the traffic flow was maintained and the public did not face any problems."
The City Traffic Police is striving to provide the best travel facilities to the public, he said adding that citizens are requested to follow traffic rules, park in designated areas and act as civilised individuals.
