KARACHI:

The 19th Karachi International Book Fair draws crowds, with over 300,000 visitors thronging the Expo Centre on its third day. Among the attendees were prominent figures such as Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Amir Munam Zafar.

Thousands of students from more than 90 private educational institutions visited the fair, which has become a hallmark of Karachi's cultural landscape. On Friday, students from 40 schools explored stalls featuring a wide range of books, including those on history, fiction, and religion.

Governor Tessori, during his visit, underlined the importance of fostering a love for reading among the younger generation. He announced plans to establish a dedicated cell at the Governor's House to promote the culture of books and urged organisers to expand the event nationwide. "Books are the key to knowledge, and the new generation must rekindle their bond with them," he said while praising the fair for showcasing Karachi's passion for literature.
