Two held for attempt to smuggle spares of stolen bikes
The police have claimed to have foiled an attempt to smuggle parts of around 200 motorbikes which were either snatched or stolen from different parts of the province.
SHO of Market police station, Muneer Abbassi, told The Express Tribune on Saturday that the parts of engine, suspension and body of motorbikes were packed in gunny bags and were being smuggled in a truck.
According to him, two suspects escaped during their raid but the cops managed to round up two others, identified as Naeem Khan Swati and Muhammad Ali Arain. "After the arrest of suspects, we have come to know about the dealers and buyers of these stolen parts who are based in Karachi, Hyderabad and Lahore."
He told that the consignment was supposed to be delivered to a buyer in Lahore. Abbassi added that such parts are often sold at the shops or scrap dealers. "We conducted a raid in Karachi after the arrest of a suspect in Hyderabad. We expect to release details to the media about the suspects involved in this illegal business in the next couple of days."
