City locked again due to protest in various areas
Chaotic traffic jams took place on major roads due to protests in different areas of the city on Saturday. Motorists, stuck in worst traffic jams, say no government authority showed up to listen to the grievances of protestors and to find solution to the severe problems of people.
According to details, a massive protest erupted at Township Chowk on the National Highway, due to which traffic remained suspended for hours making long queues of vehicles were formed on both sides of the road.
The protest was staged due to police inaction against the murder of a citizen during a scuffle in Wednesday Bazaar a few days ago. Traffic police provided an alternative routes to the traffic coming from Gaggar Phatak to Port Qasim, and the traffic going from the Airport to Ghaghar Phatak.
Separately, residents of the area took to the streets near Lal Masjid in PIB Colony against water shortage and blocked the road, due to which there was the worst traffic from Teen Hatti to Jail Chowrangi.
Moreover, the residents of Jehangir Road and adjoining areas experienced worst traffic jam due to protest against frequent power shut down and water outages. The police diverted the traffic from Teen Hatti to PIB Morr Jail Gate and from Guru Mandir to Binnori Town.
Meanwhile, the traffic flow on the road coming from Gharibabad to National Stadium was affected due to the exhibition at the Expo Centre. Vehicles formed long queuse for several kilometers due to traffic congestion.
Similarly, leakage from a water pipeline on University Road, and accumulation of sewage water at Johar Morr also affected the traffic flow.
Citizens faced severe hardship due to traffic jams in these areas.
