A PTI leader has filed a writ petition seeking directives by the Lahore High Court to restrain all news channels from telecasting allegedly defamatory and scandalous speeches and press conferences of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for causing incitement.
Punjab PTI Vice President Akmal Khan filed the petition through Advocate Sardar Khurram Latif Khosa, citing as respondents PEMRA, top 11 television channels and the chief minister.
The petition contended that the PTI had emerged the largest party of Pakistan, as a result of which its leadership had been subjected to political victimisation.
The petitioner contended that PML-N leaders, including Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, were using derogatory language in their speeches and the conduct was tantamount to creating anarchy by inciting PTI workers.
He said he had submitted an application to PEMRA and visited the police for lodging an FIR, but in vain.
