ATC reserves verdict in JUI-F leader murder case
The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), Sukkur, on Friday reserved judgment in the November, 2014, murder case of Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Sindh chapter General Secretary Khalid Mehmood Soomro.
Talking to the media after the hearing, Advocate Athar Abbass Solangi, pleading the case on behalf of Soomro, informed that the ATC judge Abdul Rehman Qazi will pronounce the verdict on December 20.
Allama Rashid Mehmood Soomro, Soomro's son and JUI-F's provincial general secretary, expressed hope that after 10 long years of fighting his father's case in the court they expect to get justice. The Sukkur police had charged and arrested six suspects in connection with the killing. The former senator Soomro was gunned down on November 29, 2014, when he was leaving a mosque attached to a seminary in Sukkur early in the morning in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Sukkur. Rashid Mehmood urged the party's supporters to observe fast, recite the Holy Book and to pray during the next seven days till December 20 seeking justice for Soomro.
