RAWALPINDI:

Malik Azhar Naeem of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Friday took oath as the vice-president (VP) of the Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) after Jamaat-e-Islami (JI)'s Khalid Mahmood Mirza stepped down as a result of an agreement.

Brigadier Ahmed Nawaz, the president of the CCB took oath from Naeem.

Earlier, following the resignation of JI's minority member George Shehzad, PML-N's Alexander William was sworn in as the minority member of the CCB.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by CCB's Executive Officer Amir Rasheed, MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed, MPA Malik Mansoor Afzal, and members of the Board.

Under the agreement between the PML-N and the JI, after completing their designated term, the latter's VP and minority member resigned from their positions.

The current composition of the Board now includes seven members from the PML-N, two each from the JI and the PTI, and one independent member. Newly elected VP Malik Azhar Naeem told The Express Tribune that all board members are equal to him and promised to initiate a robust era of development in Chaklala Cantonment. He assured that all development schemes proposed by the members would be implemented.

Naeem also emphasised working under the leadership of former Senator Chaudhry Tanveer Khan, MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed and MPA Malik Mansoor Afzal and vowed to uphold the trust of the leadership and voters and to deliver on their expectations.
