Hailey Bieber trolled by Selena Gomez fans over engagement ring: "She doesn’t need overpriced gifts"

Selena Gomez announced her engagement to her boyfriend and music producer, Benny Blanco, through an Instagram post on December 11.

The Rare Beauty founder shared a carousel of photos, including a close-up of her marquise-cut diamond engagement ring. One photo showed her admiring the ring while sitting on a manicured lawn, while another featured the couple embracing as Selena showcased her ring.

Meanwhile, social media users began comparing Selena’s engagement ring to the one Justin Bieber gave to his wife, Hailey Bieber. An X user, @positionsmafiaa, claimed, “the engagement ring Selena Gomez’s ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, got for his wife, Hailey Bieber, costs 4 times as much as the one Benny Blanco bought for Selena Gomez.”

The tweet had garnered over 20,000 views at the time of writing. In response, one user commented:

"Girl, her hand is more than 1 billion dollars."

While some debated the comparison, others felt it was unnecessary. Another X user remarked, “Isn’t he broke now? Selena’s a billionaire LMAOO she can buy her own whatever lmao.”

A People magazine report from July 2024 revealed that Justin Bieber worked with Jack Solow of Solow & Co. to design Hailey Bieber’s oval-cut diamond engagement ring, which is estimated to be between six and 10 carats.
