Netflix breaks barriers: 'Squid Game' video game open to non-subscribers for a limited time
Netflix is stepping into uncharted territory by making Squid Game: Unleashed, its highly anticipated video game, available to non-subscribers. Announced at The Game Awards in Los Angeles, this limited-time offering will let anyone join the chaos when the game launches next Tuesday.
The multiplayer “party royale” game invites players to experience heart-pounding action inspired by the popular series’ iconic challenges, including Glass Bridge and Red Light Green Light. Netflix’s President of Games, Alain Tascan, explained, “Squid Game: Unleashed is all about playing with (or against) your friends in the iconic games from the series, so we’re inviting everyone into the chaos this holiday season.”
This marks a significant shift for Netflix, which previously confined its gaming platform to subscribers. Squid Game, Netflix’s most-watched series ever, continues its legacy with a second season debuting on December 26, 2024.
Additionally, Netflix announced Steel Paws, an exclusive title arriving in 2025 from renowned game developer Yu Suzuki, creator of Shenmue and Virtua Fighter.
