Rizwan registers multiple unwanted records in first South Africa T20I

Pakistan's white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan played a crucial but slow knock in the first T20I against South Africa at Kingsmead on Tuesday, but his efforts fell short as Pakistan lost by 11 runs.

Chasing a target of 184, Rizwan anchored the innings with a knock of 74 runs off 62 balls, but Pakistan still failed to cross the line, finishing at 172/6.

Rizwan's innings, which included eight boundaries and three sixes, was characterised by a cautious approach. By the 16th over, he had accumulated 46 runs from 49 balls, with Pakistan needing 60 more runs from the final 24 deliveries.

In a late surge, Rizwan hit two sixes in the 17th over to complete his half-century off 50 balls, but he was dismissed on the second ball of the final over, leaving Pakistan short of their target.

This knock marked Rizwan's third-lowest strike rate in innings where he scored over fifty runs. His strike rate of 119.35 is the second-lowest for a 70-run innings by a T20I captain, behind New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, who had scored 70 off 60 balls against Pakistan in 2016.

Additionally, Rizwan's 62-ball 74 places him fourth on the list of slowest T20I innings by a full-member batter in a chase.
