YouTube TV has officially confirmed its latest price hike, raising the monthly cost of its Base Plan from $72.99 to $82.99. While the change took effect for new customers on December 12, existing subscribers will see the new rate from January 13, 2025. This $10 increase marks the latest in a series of price adjustments since the service launched at $35 in 2017.
In a statement on its support page, YouTube TV cited the rising costs of content as the reason behind the increase, claiming it reflects the “complete value” of the service. Subscribers will continue to enjoy features such as 100+ channels, unlimited DVR storage, up to six accounts per household, and three simultaneous streams—without extra fees for broadcast, HD, or DVR.
Despite these offerings, the hike has drawn mixed reactions from users. Some have expressed concerns about affordability, while others acknowledge the premium features as justification for the rising costs. “I might reconsider my subscription,” said one user on social media, reflecting growing unease among price-sensitive viewers.
YouTube TV's price adjustment places it among the higher-end streaming options, outpacing competitors like Hulu + Live TV and Sling TV. However, its unlimited DVR feature and channel variety remain significant selling points.
For customers with paused memberships, the updated price will automatically apply upon reactivation. Subscribers are encouraged to review their plans and explore whether YouTube TV still aligns with their streaming needs.
The increase comes at a time when streaming services face mounting pressure to balance content costs with subscriber retention. As users weigh their options, the question remains whether premium features can justify the ever-rising costs of digital entertainment.
