LAHORE:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Qamar Zaman Kaira reminded the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz that it has certain obligations to fulfill when it comes to agreements between the two parties.

Taking a swipe at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for only being willing to engage in dialogue with the establishment, senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Qamar Zaman Kaira has stated that the only political party in distress is seeking dialogue with non-political entities,

Qamar said political parties always negotiate with political entities. He was speaking at a press conference on Wednesday.

Qamar stated that Pakistan is currently in a crisis, and while some elements are improving, the magnitude of the problem makes complete rectification a challenge.

"Without being part of the government, the PPP supported Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to curb division and hatred," he claimed.

Kaira emphasised that Bilawal Bhutto rescued the government during tough times, reiterating that the country's problems would be resolved gradually. Kaira highlighted the challenges of the current political landscape, stressing that while politics was difficult, it was also the essence of meeting political challenges.

He criticised the PTI, saying the party seems directionless despite its revolutionary slogans. He added creating turmoil takes the country one step and two steps back.

Kaira denied making any new demands from the government, clarifying that whenever the PPP voices concerns, it is interpreted as a withdrawal of support.

According to him, some points of the PPP's agreement with the government have been implemented, while others linger. He urged the full implementation of the agreement to reduce bitterness.

He remarked that no single party could solve the country's problems, emphasising the need for collective efforts. "PPP and PML-N worked with unity and mutual understanding to tackle crises.

Kaira stated that PPP strives for alliances to rescue the country from difficulties. Referring to the upcoming death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto, he said caravans would head to Larkana on the occasion.

"PPP, despite facing allegations, continues to work for the betterment of the country. On December 27, events to mark Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed's death anniversary will be held in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, where party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will present to decide the future course of action."

Kaira mentioned that the flag-hoisting campaign is symbolic and demonstrates political affiliation. He praised the Punjab team for successfully mobilising this campaign across all districts of the province.
