Disney continues its trend of live-action adaptations, with a new version of Tangled now officially in development.

According to Deadline, the studio has selected Michael Gracey, best known for directing The Greatest Showman, to helm the retelling of the beloved animated classic.

Jennifer Kaityn Robinson, who co-wrote Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder, has been brought on board to write the latest draft of the screenplay. The new adaptation will revisit the story of Rapunzel, a lost princess with magical hair, as she embarks on a journey to rediscover her identity and find her way home.

This announcement adds to Disney’s growing list of live-action adaptations, following hits like The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. Details regarding the cast, release date, and production timeline remain under wraps, but the project promises to reimagine the iconic tale for a new generation.

As development unfolds, fans can anticipate updates on how Disney plans to translate the vibrant and whimsical world of Tangled into a live-action format.
