Aisam falls out of top 10 after US Open

Indo-Pak Express slides down one place as well in new rankings.

KARACHI:
A semi-final loss at the US Open has cost Pakistan’s Aisamul Haq Qureshi five places in the new ATP rankings released yesterday.

While Aisam now finds himself 15th in the doubles individual rankings – with partner Rohan Bopanna sitting 14th – the Indo-Pak Express, which reached the final of the US Open last year, slid down one place to 7th in the latest standings.

The US duo of Bryan brothers – Bob and Mike – continue to lead the rankings where Aisam and Bopanna were placed on sixth before the US Open. The US pair is followed by Frenchman Michael Llodra and Serbia’s Nenad Zimonjic while Max Mirnyi (Belarus).

Indian duo Mahesh Bhupati and Leander Peas sit fourth while Jurgen Melzer (Austria)-Philipp Petzschner (Germany) and Robert Lindstedt-Horia Tecau (Romania) are also ahead of the Indo-Pak pair with fifth and sixth position, respectively.

A further decline in Aisam and Bopanna’s ranking may rule them out of the London Masters where only the top eight pairs play.
