Imran Abbas has qualms about gossip-mongers
Vitriol is heavy when a famed figure's personal life is publicised, and Imran Abbas is not afraid to counter it with criticism of his own. Taking to social media, the 42-year-old actor had much to say on the matter.
He began by calling it "a shame" that those who have some form of ties to the entertainment industry, be it writers or "so-called intellectuals", feel the need to broach personal matters, such as a celebrity's past life. Imran believes that "often dredging up (these) stories" works towards damaging said celebrity's "present reputation".
For him, this is especially malicious considering that many of these celebrities have now settled in different lives and do not wish to revisit what they left behind.
"Sensationalising stories from the past can have lasting negative effects on individuals, even if they have since moved on to live different lives. Unfortunately, we are presently living in a time where people ruin their livelihood and enjoy spreading negativity and sordid tales," he continued.
"If only these individuals realised the severity of their actions in terms of our religious beliefs and values, and how Allah has condemned this act, they would refrain from such behaviour in the future," Imran concluded.
The Khuda Aur Mohabbat actor's firm denunciation isn't an isolated stand. In an earlier Story on Instagram, he addressed how easily the words of a celebrity tend to get misconstrued.
"It is truly disheartening to see how some individuals manipulate and distort our words to fabricate scenarios that have no basis in reality," he wrote. "Have they considered the grave implications of accusing someone falsely of deeds they never committed?"
Defending an unnamed industry peer who bore the brunt of the controversy surrounding his earlier statement, Imran said, "I am grateful that no production house or producer in this industry owes me any money. I have always been fortunate to collaborate with outstanding producers, as my payments have always been settled well before the conclusion of any shoot."
The Koi Chand Rakh actor deemed it "disgusting" that his criticism regarding late payments could be linked to someone he actually cherishes in the industry. While his social media posts do not hold back when it comes to calling out individuals within his line of work, Imran also frequently makes his presence known when it comes to defending his treasured peers.
