Did Luigi Mangione release cryptic video hinting at revealing ‘The Truth’ after his arrest?
Luigi Mangione, arrested as a person of interest in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, was linked to a mysterious YouTube video on December 9 following his detention.
The 84-second video, uploaded by the account @PepMangione shortly after Mangione’s arrest, featured a silent 60-second countdown clock with the words "The Truth" displayed above it, implying that the full story would be revealed afterward. The video also stated:
"If you see this, I'm already under arrest."
The word "soon" appeared at the bottom right of the black screen, seemingly hinting that more revelations would follow. Another caption at the end of the video read:
"All is scheduled, be patient. Bye for now."
Although the video was suspected of being connected to Luigi Mangione, YouTube denied any direct links between the account and the person of interest in the case. According to a YouTube spokesperson, the account was suspended for "violating their policies covering impersonation, which prohibit content intended to impersonate another person on YouTube."
"The channel's metadata was updated following widespread reporting of Luigi Mangione's arrest, including updates made to the channel name and handle," the spokesperson told Newsweek.
The platform also confirmed it had terminated three other channels associated with the suspect under its Creator Responsibility Guidelines. "These channels had not posted content in over 7 months," the company noted.
The photo used on the suspended account was of Mangione, and the page included details about his education at the University of Pennsylvania. The account, created in January 2024, had no uploads prior to Monday, December 9, when the cryptic video was posted.
Luigi Mangione was taken into custody on weapons charges on the morning of December 9 at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Restaurant employees reported him to the police after finding his behavior suspicious. At the time of his arrest, Mangione was in possession of a firearm and fake identification documents.
