Aamir sparks buzz over film with the three Khans
Bollywood fans have long speculated about a film bringing together the "three Khans" – Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan. Now, Aamir has revealed that this dream project might be closer to reality than ever. Indian Express reported that while speaking at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, the actor shared details of a conversation with his contemporaries, where he pitched the idea of collaborating on a movie.
"About six months back or so, Shah Rukh, Salman, and I were together, and we did speak about this," Aamir said. "In fact, I was the person who brought this up. I told Shah Rukh and Salman that it would be really sad if the three of us don't do a film together."
The suggestion was met with enthusiasm from the other two Khans. According to the Dangal actor, "I think Salman and Shah Rukh were equally in agreement, and they were like, 'We must do a film together, the three of us.'" However, Aamir stressed the importance of finding the right story for such a monumental collaboration. "It will need the right kind of story, so we will have to wait for the right script, but we all three are looking forward to it," he added.
This isn't the first time Aamir has voiced his desire to work with Shah Rukh and Salman. During an appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show in April, Aamir responded to a fan's question about a potential collaboration, echoing his thoughts: "We've been in the same industry for so many years, and it would be unfair to the audience if we didn't do at least one film together."
A year of reflection
After stepping away from the spotlight following the release of Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir has spent much of the past year reflecting on life and family. Now, at 59, the actor is back with renewed purpose. He is currently working on several projects, including his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, which he describes as a thematic sequel to his 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par.
"It's a fresh set of characters, completely fresh situation and plot," Aamir said in conversation with Deadline at the Red Sea Film Festival. "We are coming to post-production later this month and will be ready to release the film in the middle of next year."
Under his production banner, the actor is also working on Lahore 1947 with director Rajkumar Santoshi and actor Sunny Deol, as well as his son Junaid Khan's second film, Ek Din, co-starring Sai Pallavi. Additionally, he is producing a comedy in the vein of Austin Powers, written and directed by comedian Vir Das, who will also star in the project.
While Aamir is focusing on his diverse slate of productions, Shah Rukh and Salman continue to dominate Bollywood's action landscape. Following the massive success of Tiger 3, Salman is set to star in Sajid Nadiadwala's Sikandar opposite Rashmika Mandanna. He is also confirmed to reprise his role as Tiger in the much-anticipated Tiger vs. Pathaan, which will see him face off against Shah Rukh's titular spy, as reported by Pinkvilla.
A source revealed that Aditya Chopra separately pitched the script to Shah Rukh and Salman, both of whom immediately gave their approval.
Shah Rukh, meanwhile, has enjoyed an exceptional year with back-to-back successes, including Pathaan and Jawan. Fans eagerly await his return to the screen in his next big project with his daughter Suhana Khan for an exciting new film titled King. The film, according to GQ India, is directed by Sujoy Ghosh and will mark Suhana Khan's big-screen debut following her performance in The Archies on Netflix.
