Three passengers detained with fake documents at Karachi airport

All the suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Karachi.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested three passengers at Karachi Airport in separate operations.

According to the spokesperson, the FIA arrested a passenger, Mohammad Muzzamil, who was attempting to travel illegally under the guise of performing Umrah.

His passport contained fake information, including a falsified place of birth, Express news reported.

The passenger's real birthplace is Lodhran, but he had listed Sargodha as his place of birth to obtain an Umrah visa. Initial investigation revealed that the suspect was attempting to travel to Saudi Arabia under the pretext of Umrah, but his actual intention was to seek employment there.

The suspect had made a deal with an agent named Asher from Bahawalpur for this purpose, agreeing to pay Rs 3.5 lakhs for the deal, which would grant him a work visa (Iqama) upon reaching Saudi Arabia.

In another operation, the FIA arrested two passengers, identified as Qurban Ali and Mohammad Tehran, who tried to travel using fake documents. Both passengers were from Hyderabad.

They attempted to travel to South Africa using fraudulent South African visas. The immigration section's forensic report confirmed that the visas lacked the necessary security features.

All the suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Karachi for further legal action and investigation.

Previously FIA detained ten people at Karachi Airport, accusing them of planning to travel to Saudi Arabia for begging under the guise of performing Umrah.

The group included seven women, as well as an agent suspected of organising the trip, the FIA said in a statement.

Last week FIA immigration successfully apprehended a key suspect involved in a human trafficking case at Islamabad Airport.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrested individual has been identified as Khawar Shehzad, who was allegedly involved in human trafficking and visa fraud. The suspect was detained upon his arrival at Islamabad Airport from Oman.

Earlier the United Arab Emirates (UAE) stiffened rules for the issuance of work visa to the Pakistanis, after which the Pakistan government attached a new condition of obtaining character certificate from the police for the applicants seeking employment in the Gulf country.
