Garrison bags Pink Football cup

The team edged out Karachi United 1-0 in a nail-biting final of the 16-team event

KARACHI:

The Garrison Football Academy won the three-day women soccer championship titled Pink Football Tournament, organised by the Sindh Sports Department.

The team edged out Karachi United 1-0 in a nail-biting final of the 16-team event, held at the newly constructed synthetic turf of the Lyari International Football Stadium. The decisive moment came when Alizeh Sabir scored the lone goal, also earning her the tournament's best player title.

Garrison's goalkeeper, Zainab, was recognised as the best in her position, while Sanobar Sattar of Lyari Football Academy emerged as the top scorer with an impressive 10 goals. Similarly, 14-year-old Harmeen Shaukat from Dia Women Football Club was honoured as the tournament's best overall player for her outstanding performance. Sindh Assembly Parliamentary Secretary for Sports Saima Agha graced the closing ceremony where attendees also included Sports Secretary Abdul Aleem Lashari, who distributed the prizes.
