PESHAWAR:

The streets of Peshawar Cantt have been adorned with colorful chrysanthemum flowers, giving the provincial capital the chance to live up to its name of the "city of flowers." For centuries, the city has been celebrated for its rich cultural heritage, vibrant floral traditions, and deep connection with nature.

The Cantonment Board Peshawar, which plays a vital role in preserving the city's historical and cultural essence, has organised the 48th Chrysanthemum Festival this December, continuing its tradition.

The board beautifully decorated various streets and alleys in the Cantt area with flowers. Every year, it introduces something unique, showcasing different varieties of chrysanthemums, which makes the event highly anticipated.

The streets have been embellished with intricate patterns and vibrant blooms, filling the city with fragrance and colors. Mehar Gul, the horticulturist of Cantonment Board Peshawar, states that the Chrysanthemum Festival has become a beloved tradition, especially for the residents of Peshawar Cantt.

"We organise this exhibition every winter to allow people to enjoy nature's beauty, relax, and connect with the seasons. The cantonment board's nursery houses an impressive collection of over 200 varieties of chrysanthemums, making it stand out from other nurseries in the region. It is the largest and most unique nursery in the Peshawar Cantt area, offering an extensive range of flowers," says Mehar Gul.

Cantonment Board Peshawar Executive Officer Chaadhry Babar says the flower stalls take five days to set up, and one has been arranged with great care and attention."

"Such exhibitions enhance the aesthetic standards of our community and deepen our connection with nature. Flowers not only beautify our surroundings, but also contribute to a cleaner and more peaceful environment."
