Buckingham Palace reveals King Charles, Queen Camilla’s 2024 Christmas card
Buckingham Palace has unveiled the official Christmas card for King Charles and Queen Camilla for 2024, showcasing a relaxed and joyful portrait of the royal couple.
The image, captured earlier this year by renowned British photographer Millie Pilkington, was taken in April in the garden of Buckingham Palace.
In the photograph, King Charles, 76, appears in a grey suit with a blue tie, standing in side profile with one hand in his pocket. Queen Camilla, 77, stands next to him, dressed in a blue wool crepe ensemble by designer Fiona Clare.
The cheerful couple is captured in a moment of calm, reflecting a more informal tone than last year's official photograph, which was taken in the Throne Room after King Charles' coronation.
Inside the card, the royal couple wishes, "A very Happy Christmas and New Year" to their recipients. The seasonal card is traditionally sent to family, friends, and colleagues by senior members of the royal family, and is a key moment for royal-watchers who eagerly anticipate its release each year.
This year’s unveiling comes amid busy schedules for other members of the royal family. Prince William, currently in France, attended the reopening celebrations of Notre-Dame Cathedral, which had undergone extensive restoration following a fire in 2019.
During his visit, he met with US First Lady Jill Biden and President-elect Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, Princess Catherine hosted her annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey, where the event honoured individuals who have shown kindness and empathy in their communities.
The service featured performances by Gregory Porter, Paloma Faith, and others, with readings from celebrities such as Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty and actors Michelle Dockery and Richard E. Grant.
