K-P announces Bajaur festival to boost tourism in tribal areas
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has announced plans to kick off tourism activities in the newly merged tribal districts, starting with a two-day festival in Bajaur. The event will commence on December 14 at the Bajaur Sports Complex in Khaar, Express News reported on Sunday.
Organised by the K-P Culture and Tourism Authority in collaboration with the tourism authority's merged districts wing, local administration, and Bajaur Scouts, the festival aims to promote tourism and healthy activities in the region.
The festival will feature a variety of events including a cycle race, martial arts competitions, kabaddi, and performances by school children. For family entertainment, there will be a playland area for children, comedy skits, a mushaira (poetry recital), traditional Attan dance, music sessions, and food stalls.
The initiative is designed to encourage sports activities and promote tourism in the merged districts, while also providing a platform for youth to engage in healthy activities. Organisers hope that the event will send a positive message from the region to the world.
The K-P Culture and Tourism Authority and the merged districts wing have previously organised similar events in other tribal areas, including Khyber, Orakzai, Wana, and South and North Waziristan.
These events not only focused on sporting activities but also contributed to boosting tourism in the province. The government aims to showcase the cultural diversity and potential of these areas, helping them integrate further into Pakistan’s tourism map.
