A powerful western weather system has entered Pakistan, bringing the possibility of rain and snowfall to various parts of the country, including Lahore.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts rain in central and northern districts of Punjab, with colder winds expected to sweep through the plains.

In the hilly areas of Punjab, snowfall could occur, further intensifying the winter chill.

The system is also expected to bring cooler temperatures, with Lahore's minimum temperature forecast to be 8.5°C, while the maximum will reach 24°C.

This weather system is likely to increase the intensity of cold weather across the region.

However, it may benefit agricultural areas, providing much-needed rain for crops. Authorities have advised residents to take precautions and be prepared for the changing weather conditions.

Karachi and several other areas of Sindh are experiencing a new wave of mild cold weather, with temperatures expected to drop further over the weekend, Express News reported.

Today the mercury could fall to as low as 11°C, while Saturday saw a dip of 2.5°C, with the city recording 14°C compared to the previous day's temperature. On Friday, the minimum temperature in the city had been recorded at 16°C.

According to the PMD, a fresh spell of light cold weather has entered the province.

The prevailing winds are expected to be coming from the direction of Balochistan, causing the temperature to drop even further, with 11°C expected to be recorded in the coming days.

The Early Warning Centre has forecasted dry weather for Karachi over the next three days, with cool nights expected. In upper Sindh, the night temperature could drop to 9.7°C, while central Sindh is expected to see temperatures ranging between 9°C and 11°C.

In southern Sindh, temperatures will likely remain between 10°C and 12°C. The shift in weather conditions marks a significant dip in temperatures for the region, as residents brace for colder nights ahead.
