KARACHI:

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has issued guidelines for the preparation of the Annual Development Program for 2025-26. The guidelines are focused on provincial development, with an emphasis on post-flood rehabilitation and alignment with the govt's broader development objectives.

Planning and Develop-ment Minister Syed Nasir Shah has outlined the steps for preparing the upcoming ADP. CM Shah addressed the need to restore infrastructure damaged during the catastrophic floods of 2022.

The CM prioritised high-impact projects that align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in areas such as resilient infrastructure, healthcare, education, and climate-smart agriculture and irrigation initiatives. He added that planning should reflect current realities, particularly in terms of disaster recovery and mitigating the effects of inflation on vulnerable communities.

In his guidelines, CM Shah said that the approval process for new projects be completed by March 31, 2025, to ensure their timely inclusion in the ADP. He also called for allocating at least 80% of the development budget to ongoing projects, stressing the importance of maintaining financial discipline and preventing cost overruns.
