PMDC to challenge SHC verdict
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to move the Supreme Court against a recent ruling of the Sindh High Court's constitutional bench on a contempt petition regarding the non-registration of students from the 2022 and 2023 batches.
During the proceedings, the PMDC submitted its response, which the court made part of the official record. The PMDC's attorney informed the court that his client would appeal the SHC constitutional bench decision in the Supreme Court within a week. The PMDC is also sending letters to all universities in Sindh, instructing them to proceed with the admission process for students who passed exams in 2022 and 2023. The letter states that the admission process for students with conditional admissions should continue without disruption.
The contempt petition argued that the PMDC had not implemented the court's earlier order in its true spirit. The petitioners pointed out that the PMDC's test results are valid for three years, and the court ruled that students from the last two years should also be allowed to take the test.
